Hotel Zee en Duin is a charming three-star hotel situated right on the beach in Katwijk aan Zee. The Warmenhoven family has been welcoming guests to their warm and hospitable family-run hotel for four generations, ever since 1928.

Our hotel features a cozy lounge with a fireplace and a unique bar offering a selection of over 500 different Scotch malt whiskies. Whether you are a whisky connoisseur or simply looking to enjoy a relaxing drink, our bar has something for everyone.

Located just 20 meters from the beach and approximately 250 meters from the shopping area, Hotel Zee en Duin offers the perfect combination of seaside tranquility and easy access to local attractions.

We are deeply committed to sustainability, utilizing solar energy and heat pumps to minimize our environmental footprint.

Our ecological sustainability initiatives

At Hotel Zee en Duin, we place great importance on environmental friendliness and actively work to reduce our ecological footprint. We do this through:

Solar Panels

In 2022, we installed 64 solar panels on our hotel roof. These panels convert sunlight into electricity, which we either use directly or feed back into the grid. This helps reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and supports sustainable energy generation.

Solar Water Heater

In early 2023, we installed an 800-liter solar water heater. This system uses solar energy to heat water, ensuring our guests can enjoy a warm shower in the morning. On cloudy days, our heating system supplements the solar heater, allowing us to consistently provide hot water in an eco-friendly way.

LED Lighting

We use only energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the hotel, which significantly lowers our energy consumption.

Water-Saving Measures

We use water-saving showerheads and flow restrictors to minimize water usage. Additionally, towels are only replaced at the guest's request; placing a towel on the floor indicates it should be changed, while hanging towels up means they will be reused.

Waste Separation and Recycling

We separate and recycle our glass, ensuring it is collected weekly by a specialized company.

Local Sourcing

We support the local economy by sourcing our breakfast products locally from Katwijk, Rijnsburg, and Leiden—including fresh fruit, pastries, cold cuts, and other items. Our laundry is also handled by a local laundry service in Katwijk. Motion sensors

To save energy, we have installed motion sensors in the hotel corridors.

Bicycle rental

We offer our guests the option to rent bicycles, allowing them to explore the beautiful surroundings of Katwijk in a sustainable way.
