The history of Hotel Santiago begins in the 19th century, when Maria da Luz, a woman of great determination, founded the Pensão Maria da Luz, where it all began.
Later, her daughter Maria José and her husband, Eugénio, carried on that entrepreneurial spirit by creating the Mariluz, a guesthouse with rooms, a café and a restaurant that made its mark on the region.
Years later, their granddaughter Gena and her husband, João Pedro, built on the same site the Residencial Santiago, which would later become the present-day Hotel Santiago.
Today, now in its fifth generation, Hotel Santiago remains a family undertaking, where tradition, a sense of closeness and hospitality form part of the daily life of those who carry this story forward and of those who visit us.
More than a hotel, a family story in evolution.
